What do you tell students who are standing up for themselves, when standing up might get them arrested and/or barred from the education system, and is even more likely to earn you, their teacher, a quick trip through the deportation office?

Here's what I went with: I trust you. Be smart, and be careful.

Does that make me the best teacher ever, or the worst?
